A new initiative has been introduced by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to enable applicants who failed the last exam to retake the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) papers at an earlier time than before.
John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, addressed this on Monday during an interview on Ghana’s JoyNews AM Show.
This project, which will begin in January 2025, is a major change from the customary waiting period for the next cycle of private examinations, according to Kapi.
He clarified that students now have the option to retake the tests in a few of weeks if they examine their most recent results and determine that they need to improve on one or two papers.”
Students who see that they need to retake one or two papers after viewing their results now have until January 8th to register online via our website or at internet cafés accredited by WAEC,” Kapi said.
The WASSCE PC1 retake exams will take place between January 24 and February 15, 2025.
Additionally, Kapi affirmed that students are permitted to take these tests if their results were canceled for reasons unrelated to malpractice bans.
Thousands of students throughout West Africa are anticipated to benefit from this new retake option, which highlights WAEC’s dedication to increasing flexibility and providing timely opportunities for academic improvement by minimizing academic progress delays.
Candidates are encouraged to register as soon as possible to take advantage of this opportunity.
