The All Progressives Congress North Central Chapter on Saturday issued a warning to resentful members and organizations to refrain from disparaging President Bola Tinubu, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, and other senior party leaders.

APC North Central’s National Vice Chairman Mu’azu Bawa Rijau and the region’s Zonal Secretary Yakubu Adamu jointly released the warning in a statement.

Recent attacks on Tinubu and prominent APC figures have been supported by a number of political organizations and party officials, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and the former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi warned that politicians, including the present president, will not relinquish power lightly and will do everything it takes to stay in power, including robbing, maiming, and killing. He also urged Nigerians to be ready to defend their mandate in the upcoming 2027 election.

However, El-Rufai asserted that he no longer considered his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress, to be a “zero-man show.” In order to oppose the ruling party and defend democracy, the former governor also urged opposition parties to band together and create a broad coalition.

Some resentful North Central party members have also repeatedly disparaged Akume on social media due to his ongoing conflict with Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The decision to take serious action was made during an important meeting of the APC zonal leaders and state chairmen in Abuja on Friday, Rijau said, adding that the leadership will not hesitate to impose sanctions.

According to the statement, “The APC North Central leadership has taken notice of the actions of certain individuals and support organizations who are using the party’s name to disparage, insult, and attack the people, reputations, and personalities of some prominent party leaders in the media.”

“The leadership of the zonal party want to categorically denounce and denounce this development. We boldly assert that these groupings are not only unacknowledged, but also merely usurpers and intruders.

The recent unjustified attacks by certain sponsored groups on the person and office of Senator George Akume, the current SGF and former governor of Benue State, were particularly noteworthy.

“The zone’s party leadership would like to pass a vote of confidence on our leaders, especially Akume and all five of our elected governors, whose contributions to the party’s expansion in the zone and, in fact, the nation, have been recognized by everyone.”

With this declaration, we are cautioning these individuals to immediately stop using any pretext to denigrate, assault, or abuse our leaders. The entire force of the law will be applied if this is not done. We also praised the National Working Committee, chaired by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, for giving the party direction.

We prayed for President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” to continue to succeed and reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to the principles, vision, and mission of the founding fathers.
