The remarkable unbeaten streak of Paris Saint-Germain(PSG) came to a halt as they suffered a 3-1 home loss to Nice in Ligue 1 action. Despite having already secured the championship title earlier this month, PSG’s momentum was disrupted by Nice’s determined performance and teamwork.

“We attacked in many different ways, they defended incredibly well,” said Luis Enrique, PSG’s coach, praising Nice’s defensive resilience.

Morgan Sanson broke the deadlock for Nice with a precise finish in the 34th minute, assisted by Badredine Bouanani’s accurate cross. Fabian Ruiz equalized for PSG seven minutes later with a stunning half-volley, courtesy of O. Dembélé’s assist. However, Nice regained the lead after the restart, thanks to Sanson’s clinical second goal, a close-range volley assisted by J. Clauss.

Youssouf Ndayishimiye sealed the win for Nice with a decisive header in the 70th minute, following Bouanani’s pinpoint delivery from a set-piece situation. Nice’s efficient finishing was evident, with all three goals coming from just three shots on target. PSG, on the other hand, struggled to capitalize on their chances despite having 13 shots on target.

“We would love to play the same kind of match against Arsenal,” Enrique added, emphasizing the need for a strong performance in the upcoming Champions League semi-final.

The loss marks PSG’s first defeat in four months and puts pressure on the team ahead of their Champions League semi-final against Arsenal. Luis Enrique’s side will need to regroup and refocus to address the issues that led to their defeat against Nice.
