The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has warned the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming Anambra State elections, Nicholas Ukachukwu, that federal support will not shield him from defeat in the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial race.

This statement comes in response to Ukachukwu’s recent declaration, made following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, where he expressed confidence in his party’s ability to unseat the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Ukachukwu claimed that his party has garnered significant support, particularly from former APGA members who have defected to the APC.

“When I left APGA, I left with all my supporters. That makes APC stronger,” Ukachukwu stated to reporters after receiving the symbolic APC flag from President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa on Monday.

However, the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, dismissed Ukachukwu’s assertions. In a press release on Tuesday, he accused Ukachukwu of attempting to concoct a scheme to rig the election, believing that “presidential might” would aid his campaign.

“Ukachukwu is desperately hatching a plot to rig the November 8 governorship election with Presidential might because he knows very well that he is not electable and that there is no gospel that he can preach to Anambra electorates that will make them vote for him,” Obigwe asserted.

He further criticized the APC’s strategy, which involved presenting Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, to President Tinubu, stating, “Ganduje’s packaging of Ukachukwu and his running mate like ‘Belgium rats’ for presentation to President Tinubu at the villa will not save them from defeat. Ukachukwu will lose the forthcoming November 8 governorship election woefully.”

Obigwe emphasized that not even the backing from the presidency could salvage Ukachukwu’s candidacy, noting the public’s approval of Governor Soludo’s administration. He said, “Anambra is now the envy of other states in Nigeria, courtesy of Soludo’s good work in our state. Those supporting Ukachukwu’s mission in our state are enemies of the state, and they will be defeated as common enemies by patriotic citizens of Anambra State on November 8.”

He concluded with a strong message: “No vacancy in Anambra State government house. It is Governor Soludo for Governor or nothing till March 17, 2030.”
