The Super Falcons of Nigeria secured a convincing 2-0 victory over the Cameroonian Lionesses in an international friendly match at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade opened the scoring in the 19th minute, calmly converting a penalty after being fouled by a Cameroonian defender. She doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, slotting home a precise finish from a superb assist by Babajide Omorinsola from the left flank, securing her brace.
Despite a determined effort from the Cameroonians in the second half, Nigeria’s solid defense, led by the formidable duo of Payne Antoinette and Isah Sikiratu, held firm, ensuring a clean sheet for the Super Falcons.
Speaking after the game coach of the Nigerian team Justin Madugu said more games will be needed for the side to prepare for the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for him to try out new legs.
Morocco will be hosting the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) from July 6 to July 25, 2025.
