The Lagos State Taskforce, in a decisive move to combat criminal activities and restore public safety, conducted an early morning raid today targeting notorious black spots within Gowon Estate and its surrounding areas. The operation resulted in the arrest of 19 suspects allegedly involved in drug trafficking and related offenses.

During the raid, authorities uncovered a significant stockpile of illicit substances, including Colorado, Indian hemp, narcotics, and other banned drugs. Many of these illegal items were concealed in the trunks of abandoned vehicles parked along various streets, highlighting the sophisticated means used by criminals to evade detection.

Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, emphasized that the operation demonstrates the agency’s unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal drug activities and protecting the welfare of residents. “This operation reflects our zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities that threaten the peace and security of the state. All suspects will face the full weight of the law as investigations are ongoing,” Akerele stated firmly.

He also encouraged the public to actively participate in the government’s ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign by reporting any suspicious or unlawful behavior in their neighborhoods. This community engagement is vital to the success of ongoing law enforcement efforts.

This recent raid marks the fifth in a series of targeted enforcement actions by the Lagos State Taskforce over the past few months. It forms part of a broader crackdown on criminal networks and a sustained initiative to sanitize public spaces across Lagos State.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining law and order, the Taskforce warned that similar operations will continue until all illicit activities are eradicated. Authorities also appealed for ongoing public cooperation to help achieve a crime-free and drug-free Lagos, emphasizing that collective responsibility is key to securing a safer environment for all residents.
