Nigerian afrobeats sensation, Bella Shmurda, has opened up about a profound side of himself rarely seen by the public—his deeply spiritual nature and a life path that might have led him to the pulpit or motivational stage instead of global music tours.

During a recent episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast hosted by music journalist Joey Akan, the “Cash App” crooner revealed that if he hadn’t ventured into music, he would likely be a preacher or motivational speaker, given his natural connection to people’s emotions and spiritual energy.

“Everybody has spirituality; you just have to discover it,” Bella said, reflecting on his introspective journey. “I feel like if I wasn’t an artist, I might be a preacher or motivational speaker. I feel like that is my purpose, and I’ve been trying to implement it in every of my music.”

The 28-year-old singer, born Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, emphasized that his musical journey is not just about entertainment but also a medium to connect souls and uplift listeners. Known for blending street lingo with socially conscious messages, Bella says he cannot write music without channeling his spiritual side.

“When I’m writing, spirituality has to be there. Even in my voice, you can feel it,” he stated.

Bella Shmurda’s revelation offers insight into the soulful depth behind his growing discography, which often touches on themes of struggle, triumph, self-reflection, and hope. Tracks like “Vision 2020,” “Rush,” and “Philo” capture this balance between urban realities and emotional elevation.

The Lagos-born artist revealed his gift of inspiring others, saying he often finds himself uplifting people effortlessly.

“I easily cheer people up. I easily get to people’s deep part. And I feel like that’s my purpose,” Bella added.

This innate ability to connect emotionally has not only cemented his place in Nigeria’s competitive music scene but has also sparked conversations around his future ambitions—possibly beyond music.

Since the interview aired, fans on social media have praised the singer for being authentic and vulnerable. Many believe this aspect of Bella explains the emotional honesty in his lyrics, often described as both healing and relatable.

“He’s not just another Afrobeats hitmaker; Bella’s music really speaks to people,” one fan commented on X (formerly Twitter).

Music critic and culture analyst, Tosin Ajayi, noted:

“Bella Shmurda is one of the few artists of his generation whose music maintains a strong spiritual and emotional thread. He connects with both the streets and the soul.”

With several accolades, chart-topping singles, and collaborations with industry heavyweights like Olamide, Zlatan, and Seyi Vibez, Bella Shmurda continues to grow as an influential voice in Nigerian music. However, this new revelation may hint at more—perhaps a future where public speaking, philanthropy, or even faith-based outreach becomes part of his legacy.

In a world where artists are often boxed into entertainment alone, Bella’s story reminds us that music can also be a ministry—one that heals, motivates, and transforms.
