The Oyo Justice Forum (OJF), a prominent coalition of progressive stakeholders committed to good governance in Oyo State and Nigeria at large, has officially declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This endorsement came during a strategic meeting held on Tuesday in Oyo Town, where members of the Forum from across the 33 local government areas gathered to commemorate the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration and evaluate its performance.
In a communique jointly signed by the Forum’s Coordinator, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji—who also serves as the Director General of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI)—and the Secretary, Olufemi Atunbi, the group hailed the President’s leadership as transformative and bold.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated visionary leadership by initiating tough but necessary reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy and global standing,” the Forum stated.
The Forum praised the administration’s bold economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, which it said are already yielding measurable results.
“While the reforms were initially tough on citizens, they have begun to stabilise the fiscal framework of the nation, reducing the fiscal deficit from 5.4% of GDP in 2023 to 3.0% in 2024, as reported by Reuter,” the Forum noted.
The establishment of the Presidential Economic Coordination Council (PECC), chaired by President Tinubu himself, was also commended as a strategic move to ensure coordinated and professional economic management across sectors.
Addressing the issue of national security, the Oyo Justice Forum acknowledged the Federal Government’s gains in combating insurgency, banditry, and communal unrest under the Tinubu administration. The group noted that formerly volatile regions have begun to experience relative calm and a return to civil life.
The Forum also lauded the impact of the appointment of Professor Muhammad Ali Pate as the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, which it said had reinvigorated the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and expanded healthcare coverage to underserved communities.
Further highlighting the administration’s strides in social investment, the Forum celebrated the introduction of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFund). This initiative, they stated, is significantly improving students’ access to higher education by reducing financial barriers.
In the area of agriculture and self-sufficiency, the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development was cited as a groundbreaking development. According to the Forum, the ministry is well-positioned to unlock the potential of livestock farming for food security, wealth generation, and foreign exchange earnings.
The group also acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, stating that it has become a key driver of technological advancement and economic growth in Nigeria.
Similarly, the Ministry of Interior was praised for streamlining passport processing and delivering improved services through responsive immigration personnel.
In light of these achievements, the Oyo Justice Forum unanimously declared its unflinching endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, stating:
“A good term deserves another. We firmly believe that President Tinubu’s continued leadership is essential for the consolidation of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the long-term progress of Nigeria.”
The Forum pledged to mobilise grassroots support across all local government areas in Oyo State to ensure a landslide victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
“We commend President Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to the service of Nigeria and pledge our unwavering support to his administration and future aspirations,” the Forum added.
