The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has strongly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing developmental strides, particularly within the FCT, asserting that these accomplishments have effectively dismantled any momentum for a united opposition coalition aiming to challenge the administration in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday during the official commissioning of several significant infrastructure projects in Abuja, Wike highlighted the president’s impact. Among the projects inaugurated were the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and key connecting roads in the Katampe, Jahi, and Mabushi districts.

These infrastructural undertakings, he said, are concrete proof of the administration’s commitment to urban renewal and national development.

Addressing a gathering of government officials, contractors, and residents, the minister stated that President Tinubu’s visible performance and swift delivery of capital projects have significantly undermined the political strategies of opposition figures.

“The coalition is bound to fail—and it has already failed,” Wike declared emphatically. “Your good works have destroyed any chance the opposition had of forming a credible alliance,” he said, directly addressing President Tinubu.

Over recent months, prominent opposition figures—most notably former Vice President Atiku Abubakar—have been actively engaged in talks aimed at establishing a unified political front ahead of the 2027 elections.

Despite these efforts, internal disunity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with broader difficulties in fostering consensus across opposition parties, has continued to stall any meaningful progress toward the formation of such a coalition.

Reinforcing his unwavering support for the Tinubu-led administration, Wike added with conviction, “Some individuals will never be happy, regardless of progress—many of them were simply born to be discontent. But under President Tinubu’s leadership, there’s renewed confidence among contractors and investors. His achievements have rendered the opposition coalition obsolete in Nigeria.”

The minister’s comments underscore a broader narrative being pushed by the administration—that visible governance and delivery of public goods can be the most effective form of political strategy.
