Award-winning Afrobeats sensation, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has opened up about the deeply personal tragedies that inspired his latest song, Al-Jannah. In a rare emotional interview on a podcast aired on June 13, 2025, the singer reflected on the multiple losses he and his family have endured over the years — including the heartbreaking death of his father and son.

Kizz Daniel revealed that Al-Jannah, which translates to Paradise in Arabic, was written as a heartfelt tribute to all the loved ones he has lost throughout his life. The song, laced with soulful lyrics and spiritual depth, is already gaining attention not just for its melodic brilliance but also for its powerful message of grief, remembrance, and healing.

“When my dad was alive, he was my best friend,” the Buga crooner said during the podcast session. “I lost my dad in 2015, just a few days after my 21st birthday. Then in 2021, we lost our son. My wife lost her mum in 2024. I’ve also lost my step-mum. It’s been a lot.”

These painful experiences, he noted, were the motivation behind Al-Jannah. The singer explained that the song is not dedicated to just one individual, but rather to everyone who has experienced loss.

“I wanted to make a song for everyone, not just one person. It’s about our loved ones we have lost in this journey of life. I think I was able to accomplish that by using the word ‘friend’ in the song,” he added.

Kizz Daniel, who rose to stardom after the release of his debut single Woju and the 2016 New Era album under G-Worldwide Entertainment, has steadily evolved from a pop hitmaker into a thoughtful and introspective artist. His recent works reflect a deeper engagement with personal experiences and real-life issues, resonating with a more mature audience.

In 2023, he made headlines after retrieving the rights to his debut album from his former record label, marking a new phase of artistic independence. His decision to take a temporary break from music in 2024 to focus on family was also widely praised by fans and colleagues alike.

With Al-Jannah, Kizz Daniel continues to build a legacy beyond commercial hits. The song has sparked emotional reactions across social media, with many fans sharing their own stories of loss and how the track provides a sense of comfort and connection.

Music critics have commended Al-Jannah for its lyrical maturity and spiritual undertone. Entertainment journalist Tayo Benson described the song as “a soothing balm for a grieving generation navigating both public and private tragedies.”

Social media platforms have also been buzzing with praise for the singer’s vulnerability. On X (formerly Twitter), hashtags like #KizzDaniel and #AlJannah trended within hours of the interview’s release. One fan wrote, “This song healed a part of me. Thank you, Kizz Daniel, for reminding us that our loved ones live on in paradise.”

Despite his celebrity lifestyle, Kizz Daniel has been vocal about maintaining a grounded existence. In a previous interview, he famously stated, “I live like a poor man because I’ve seen what wealth can’t buy.” This humility, along with his candidness about personal struggles, continues to endear him to a loyal fan base.

As Al-Jannah climbs charts across Africa and beyond, Kizz Daniel’s journey from a rising star to a voice of hope and reflection in Afrobeats marks a significant chapter in his career.
