Former British No. 1 Dan Evans has been awarded a wildcard entry into the men’s singles draw at Wimbledon, starting June 30 at the All England Club.
The 35-year-old, who recently climbed back into the world’s top 200, celebrated his biggest victory in two years just days ago, boosting his momentum for the grass-court Grand Slam.
Two-time women’s champion Petra Kvitova also received a wildcard, marking her continued return from maternity leave. The Czech former world No. 2 is the only non-British player in the initial wildcard list announced Wednesday.
British teenagers Mika Stojsavljevic, last year’s US Open girls’ champion, and Hannah Klugman, a recent French Open girls’ finalist, earned main draw entries alongside compatriots Jodie Burrage, Harriet Dart, Francesca Jones, and Heather Watson.
Notably absent is French Open semi-finalist Lois Boisson, 22, whose world ranking of 361 fell well below the 128-player main draw cut-off set before last month’s French Open.
The wildcard entries highlight a mix of seasoned players and rising stars as Wimbledon prepares to kick off its prestigious tournament.
