Suicide Bomber Kills Over 10, Injures Dozens in Borno Food Joint

Tragedy struck Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State late Friday night when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a popular local food joint, killing over ten people and leaving many others severely injured.

The incident, which occurred around 10:00 p.m., threw the community into panic, as residents and bystanders were caught in the sudden blast. The food joint, known for attracting a large number of people including passersby and locals, was said to be busy at the time of the attack.

Eyewitnesses described the moment as terrifying. “Everything was normal until we suddenly heard a loud explosion. It was a devastating moment—many people died instantly,” one local source recounted. Others reported that the bomber’s body was mangled and burnt beyond recognition due to the impact of the explosion.

Following the blast, emergency responders and security personnel moved in to secure the area and provide medical assistance. Many of the injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Confirming the incident on Saturday, the Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, said, “Yesterday, around 22:00 in Konduga, just unfortunately, somebody invaded a gathering with a bomb, killing over 10 persons. An investigation is ongoing to determine what really happened.”

ASP Daso also stated that security had been tightened in the area. “We have deployed our Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts in collaboration with the military and other security agencies to the scene,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties was still being verified, while investigations continued to uncover the full details behind the deadly attack.
