D’Tigress Announce Preliminary Roster for Women’s AfroBasket

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has unveiled a 20-player preliminary roster for the senior women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, as they gear up for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament.

The squad, a blend of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers, signals Nigeria’s intent to maintain their dominance in African women’s basketball.

Leading the preliminary roster are experienced guards Promise Amukamara and Ezinne Kalu, known for their leadership and clutch performances. They are joined by versatile forwards Amy Okonkwo and Nicole Enabosi, who bring dynamism to the team’s frontline.

The roster also marks the return of key frontcourt players, including Victoria Macaulay, Christabel Ezumah, and Lauren Ebo, whose experience will be crucial in Nigeria’s title defense.

Emerging talents like Grace Efosa and Solape Amusan, the latter earning her second call-up, have been included to compete for final roster spots.

The full preliminary squad comprises Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Ifunaya Okoro, Elizabeth Balogun, Grace Efosa, Solape Amusan, Abiodun Damilola Yusuf, Adenike Olawuyi Olayemi, Amy Okonkwo, Nicole Enabosi, Pallas Kunayi, Murjanatu Musa, Gift Uchenna, Victoria Macaulay, Christabel O. Ezumah, Izoje Uche, Lauren Ebo, Ugonne Onyiah, Vera Ojenuwa, and Blessing Ejiofor.

The NBBF is expected to commence preparations soon, focusing on building team chemistry and refining strategies.

The final roster will be trimmed ahead of the tournament’s tip-off, with head coach Wakama tasked with selecting a squad capable of upholding Nigeria’s legacy as the reigning queens of African basketball.

D’Tigress, who have consistently showcased their prowess on the continental stage, are determined to secure another AfroBasket title in 2025.

Fans eagerly await the team’s campaign as they aim to solidify their status as Africa’s basketball powerhouse.
