I humbly ask you to consider joining the coalition movement. Please disregard the potential criticism about compromising your long-held ideals or diluting your political values. We are facing extraordinary times, and such moments demand extraordinary decisions

Human rights lawyer and social activist, Deji Adeyanju, has called on Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), to consider aligning with the growing opposition coalition aimed at removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in the next general election.

Adeyanju made this passionate appeal through a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday morning. In the message, he acknowledged Sowore’s well-known integrity and ideological stance but urged him to look beyond personal principles for the greater national good.

“I am fully aware that you are fundamentally different from the corrupt political elite that dominate Nigeria’s landscape,” Adeyanju stated.

“However, I humbly ask you to consider joining the coalition movement. Please disregard the potential criticism about compromising your long-held ideals or diluting your political values. We are facing extraordinary times, and such moments demand extraordinary decisions.”

He continued by stressing that true leadership sometimes requires painful personal sacrifices for the benefit of the country.

“You will win the enduring admiration and respect of countless Nigerians if you make this sacrifice. Politics is not a moral crusade or an activist movement—it is a game driven by numbers and strategic alliances.”

Adeyanju further appealed to Sowore not to be deterred by naysayers or critics. “Even in religious institutions, there are witches and wizards.

People already recognize you as an uncompromising and principled individual. You do not need to prove anything to those who will never support you, simply because they are loyal to their chosen candidates.”

In closing, Adeyanju maintained a tone of deep respect and solidarity. “Please, just reflect on the possibility of joining forces with others in the coalition. Whether or not you accept this call, my respect and admiration for you remain unchanged.”
