Federal lawmakers representing Oyo State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have unanimously endorsed Chief Adebayo Adelabu for the state’s governorship seat in the upcoming 2027 elections.

The endorsement was formally made during a strategic meeting convened at the office of the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, in Abuja.

The gathering had six out of the eight APC members of the House of Representatives from Oyo State in attendance, with apologies tendered on behalf of one absent lawmaker who is currently out of the country on official assignment.

During the high-level meeting, Chief Adelabu officially declared his intention to vie for the governorship position under the APC banner.

He appealed to the lawmakers for their active support in his quest to revamp the socio-economic landscape of Oyo State and reposition it on a path of accelerated development.

In a collective response, the lawmakers not only pledged their full support for his ambition but also described it as a well-timed and strategic initiative aimed at reclaiming Oyo State from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They applauded Adelabu’s accomplishments and reformative impact as Minister of Power, highlighting his performance-driven approach, forward-thinking policies, and the international recognition he has received within the energy sector.

However, the lawmakers emphasized the critical importance of unity within the Oyo APC. They stressed the need for sincere reconciliation among party leaders and stakeholders across the state, warning that unresolved internal wranglings could endanger the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections.

In his closing remarks, Chief Adelabu thanked the federal lawmakers for their trust and solidarity. He reaffirmed his commitment to effective governance and restated his desire to lead with a vision anchored on inclusiveness, innovation, and measurable results.

Echoing the lawmakers’ concerns, he pledged to work tirelessly toward unifying all aggrieved factions within the state chapter of the party.

As part of his ongoing statewide consultations, Chief Adelabu revealed plans to visit political zones in Ogbomosho and Oyo over the weekend.

There, he will meet with influential APC leaders, party faithful, and grassroots stakeholders as he continues to solidify his campaign groundwork.
