American heavy metal giants Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) are taking a bold stand in the ongoing fight for artists’ rights. The band has announced the release of a new compilation album on July 18, 2025, featuring re-recorded versions of their most iconic tracks—a direct response to a long-standing dispute over their original master recordings.

Following in the footsteps of pop powerhouse Taylor Swift, 5FDP is reclaiming ownership of their catalog by recreating hits from albums like War Is the Answer, The Way of the Fist, and American Capitalist. This strategic move comes after years of tension between the band and their former label over control and licensing of their master recordings.

Titled “The Justice Sessions”, the upcoming album not only revisits fan-favorite anthems like “Bad Company,” “Wrong Side of Heaven,” and “Under and Over It,” but also includes fresh vocal arrangements and enhanced instrumentation, promising a more refined, thunderous sound for longtime listeners.

“This isn’t just about music—it’s about legacy and ownership,” said frontman Ivan Moody in a press statement. “These songs are part of who we are, and we want to control how they’re heard and shared, not leave that power in the hands of suits.”

The move reflects a broader trend across the music industry, where artists—from Swift to JoJo to Def Leppard—are re-recording past works to regain artistic and financial control. 5FDP’s approach, however, leans heavily into their metal roots, emphasizing authenticity, grit, and a direct connection with fans.

In addition to the re-recording news, Sabrina Carpenter, Stevie Nicks, and Kendrick Lamar are also making waves this July. Carpenter continues her global tour while riding high off her controversial album imagery and streaming success. Stevie Nicks has teased a 2026 farewell tour, sparking buzz across rock circles. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar is rumored to be working on a surprise visual album following his viral “Pop Out” performance in June.

As The Justice Sessions countdown begins, 5FDP is also gearing up for a limited-run U.S. tour this fall where they’ll debut live versions of the updated classics. Exclusive merch tied to the re-recordings will be available both online and at tour venues, with proceeds partially supporting independent artists’ rights advocacy.

The re-recorded project is already generating buzz across social platforms with hashtags like #5FDPReclaims and #JusticeSessions trending on X and Instagram. Fans are expressing support not just for the music but for the message behind the move.

Five Finger Death Punch is proving once again that they’re not just a band—they’re a battle cry for creative independence.
