The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced that the remains of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari will be interred in his hometown of Daura, located in the Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State. The burial is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
Governor Radda shared that the burial would take place after consultations with the late president’s family and representatives in London.
He confirmed that Buhari’s remains would arrive in Katsina by 12 noon on Tuesday, and the burial would occur in Daura at around 2 pm.
The governor expressed his condolences on behalf of the people and government of Katsina State, adding that the entire nation is mourning the loss of their father, the late president. He also conveyed heartfelt sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the first family, and all Nigerians affected by the loss.
In related news, Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, arrived in London on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The two officials were tasked with retrieving the remains of the late President Buhari and overseeing the arrangements for his return to Nigeria.
President Tinubu officially announced the passing of Buhari, expressing profound sorrow over the nation’s loss. In a personal gesture of condolence, he called Mrs. Aishat Buhari, the former First Lady, to offer his sympathies and provide comfort to the grieving family.
As part of the national mourning, President Tinubu ordered that all flags across the country be flown at half-mast to honour the life and service of the late president. The gesture reflects the deep respect and appreciation for Buhari’s contributions to the nation.
Furthermore, the president has tasked Vice President Shettima with overseeing the return of Buhari’s body to Nigeria. The government has assured that full state protocols will be followed, and burial arrangements are being made to ensure that the former leader is given a dignified and fitting send-off.
